A large number of products are listed
in the regulations, confirming if carriage by tank container is permitted
and by which type of tank. However, in some cases the same product may
come under a different classification in another regulation (for instance,
ADR), although one may override the other for international and intermodal
journeys.
In certain countries, there may also be differences in acceptability of,
or specification for the tank container itself.

Where a product is not listed, it
must be properly classified by the shipper in compliance with all relevant
regulations. The final arbiters are the Competent Authorities in the countries
concerned, and they may usually be consulted on classification problems. |
